Can you tell me how you have sought to develop supplier relations?Our vertically integrated supply chain means everyone in the chain is aware of each other and motivated to do their best, tackle challenges and engage constructively. In West Africa alone there are an estimated 11 million small-scale cocoa farmers who could benefit from a change in the marketplace and deeper public knowledge about fair trade and a more sustainable cocoa and chocolate trade. Our team extends out to include our suppliers! Having 40,000 cocoa farmers as shareholders in the business is exciting and rewarding - it gives us transparency through our supply chain so we can be sure that all of our cocoa is sourced from farmers who are paid fairly and part of a democratic business. As customers are calling for more accountability this makes good business sense and for the farmers the benefits are huge as they gain knowledge of the chocolate market and a share of any profits. |
