How does the planning process work?

Planning for the solution to a problem will initially take place in the R&D laboratories on the site. There are approximately 30 chemists employed in the laboratories.

The proposals from R&D, usually consisting of outline plans for the production process and facilities, are then fed through to production planning and engineers. The proposals at this stage will have been developed sufficiently to ensure there is a feasible route to manufacture with the desired financial return.

In conjunction with the development team, the engineering and production representatives then carry out the detailed work required to manufacture at the production scale.

In conjunction with the manufacturing detail arrangements, raw materials are purchased, effluent treatment/disposal is arranged, analytical methods are developed for checking product quality and manufacturing operators are trained.

Often the initial campaign is carried out at a small scale in the pilot facilities prior to manufacture on the main plant.
