Who are their major competitors?

The taxi manufacturing industry in the UK used to be a duopoly. The two suppliers (LTI and Metrocab) occupied separate ends of the market: LTI were the 'prestige' taxi maker, built by Manganese Bronze since 1948; Metrocab produced a cheaper taxi, with fewer add-on extras.

But in December 2003, Metrocab went into administration, requiring a cash injection from its owners, Kamkorp Europe. This investment was not forthcoming so the Tamworth-based manufacturer has produced no taxis since then. Out of a total of 120 employees, only two have avoided redundancy.
