What is their vision for growth?

In many respects the charity would like to cease to exist and not grow at all! The reason for this rather strange sounding ambition is contained in the vision of the Foundation - 'A world free from meningitis and septicaemia'.

The Chairman, Howard Bell, reported that in 2003 there were fewer cases of bacterial meningitis than in 2002 but that the number of deaths rose from 329 to 387. Despite all the research and the advances in treatment and care, the disease continues to cause problems and whilst it does so, the Foundation is pledged to help provide as much support as possible to those involved in finding treatments, treating patients and supporting those who have suffered as a result of the disease.

Its growth strategy therefore is to seek new ways of raising funds and raising awareness to meet the four key objectives of the Foundation.
