How is the business structured?
At present Chris, as a sole trader, does everything herself, contracting other businesses as required. For example, she uses an accountant and solicitor. She also has contracts with optical manufacturers who make up the lenses to individual prescriptions. Since she wants to earn a reputation for quality goods, Chris only uses manufacturers who have achieved BS9001 Quality Standards that demonstrates their commitment and adherence to quality provision. Since she has become busier, Chris' husband Mike has also started to help in the day-to-day operations. Chris does not want to increase her costs by employing staff at the present time although she may need to do so in the future.
