Seeing through prices
Fluctuations in exchange rates (and indeed the very fact that exchange rates exist) make it very difficult for us to compare prices throughout Europe. Companies have often used this to their advantage to set national pricing policies. Look at the price of cars in the UK compared to the rest of Europe! If we join the Euro they won't be able to do this anymore, as we will be able to compare prices instantly between countries.
This will also be a big advantage to companies as they will be able to shop around for their raw materials and other supplies (even people!) and see immediately what the price differences are. This can only be a benefit and redress the balance of power a little between firms and consumers.
