How many familiar brands are owned by the majors?

Not too many that aren't, it seems. Here's a list of the main brands controlled by the big four global brewery companies.

Carlsberg-Tetley:

Carlsberg UK has two breweries in Britain: in Leeds and Northampton. Its brands include Carlsberg, Carlsberg Export, Carlsberg Special Brew and Tetley's. It also owns Skol and Holsten UK brands. It is the UK's fourth largest brewer.

Coors Breweries Ltd:

Coors has a 20% share of the UK beer market. Formed when joining up Coors USA and most of Bass Breweries. Based in the UK in Burton-on-Trent. Owns Carling, Grolsch, Worthington and Coors beers.

Interbrew:

Bought out Bass Breweries and Whitbread Beers in the 1990s. Controls four global brands: Stella, Brahma, Beck's and Leffe.

Scottish and Newcastle (S&N):

The market leader in three of the largest six European beer markets: the UK, France and Russia. It owns Fosters, Kronenbourg 1664, John Smith's, Strongbow and Newcastle Brown Ale.
