Wanna Argument?UK Farmers: Crisis Point? The UK Public and the Countryside According to recent surveys commissioned by 'Country Life' magazine, Britain's children are growing up knowing little or nothing about the countryside. Responding to the question: Where do acorns come from?' some of the children apparently gave the answer: 'Squirrels' and 'Cows.' As with all surveys, we need to know more about the people who were involved in the research: How many people were involved? Where do they live? How was the survey conducted? - These are all the sort of questions you should ask yourself when faced with supposedly 'concrete' survey findings. For the record, 250 kids aged between 7 and 14 formed the first sample group. This group go to schools in the Greater London area. The second sample group comprised 400 children, aged between 7 and 10, from across the country. |
