13 November 1997 - International [India]
In bilateral trade agreements with the European Union and Australia, India commits itself to lifting its decades-old ban on imports of 2,700 consumer goods. The agreements are expected to begin to take effect shortly and result in phased removal of all restrictions on consumer goods imports by 2003.
