05 February 1998 - International [Telecommunications]
A World Trade Organisation (WTO) global pact to liberalise telecommunications markets comes into force. The accord, concluded in February 1997, has been signed by 72 WTO members accounting for almost 93% of the global telecommunications market worth more than US$600 billion a year.
