16 February 1998 - International [Hungary] The IMF announces the end of its stand-by arrangement, pointing out that the Hungarian economy is sufficiently strong not to require outside help. Although Hungary never actually drew a loan from the IMF under the arrangement agreed in 1996, the US$264 million credit line helped the country obtain credit from other sources.
