The resource is designed specifically for Unit 5 of the Edexcel BTEC National qualification, 'Customer Service in Travel and Tourism', although it will be of relevance to centres following other awarding bodies' programmes.

Aim

To complete work on Unit 5 'Customer Service' with a look at selling skills in travel and tourism and to encourage learners to practice these skills.

Learning Objectives

By participating in this session, students should be able to:

  • Understand the different ways in which organisations use selling skills
  • By analysing data, understand why there is a need to emphasise these skills
  • Analyse customer needs and expectations in the business of sport tourism
  • Develop selling skills in this market segment
  • Practice these skills in role play of customer contact in sports tourism context
