Special Interest Tourism 3 - Lesson Plan

Introduction

This lesson is the second and final part of our investigation into the location of special interest tourism and the nature of the activities involved. This lesson and the accompanying activity are likely to take up at least two hours work. It might be advisable to span this session over two meetings, given the density of some of the additional materials students could investigate.

Learning objectives

By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

• Understand the background to the development of the Via Algarviana
• Find out about the organisations behind the project
• Understand the project's objectives
• Analyse the attractions of the path
• Evaluate the impact of the pathway in terms of its effect on sustainable tourism in the Algarve
• Research from a range of sources of further information
