Part Four: Analysis Department
Introduction
Are you analytical? Are you someone who likes to analyse things? Are you the sort of person that likes to dissect a football match and consider every detail? If so then you might enjoy this department of the Biz/ed Investment Bank.
Your first contact with the department is good but this makes you feel suspicious because in all the former departments there has been some sense of chaos greeting you in the few days. Everything is in order and ready. Your computer is set up with all the programs you need. You have the manual of procedures on your desk and every detail has been attended to. Even your chair was set up to match your height and weight!
At that moment you hear your name called out and towards you walks a man who you think looks no more than 18!
Good morning! I am John Walter Calculus. I am in charge of the Analysis Department. I hope you found everything in order. I hope you enjoy your time here with us and that everything goes according to plan.
If you think something is amiss please don't hesitate to tell us. We pride ourselves in solving problems in an average time of six minutes thirty seconds. If this doesn't happen, fill in this form and we will investigate the reason for the poor service.
If you have any queries about the way we work, you can refer to the procedures of our department in our department handbook, which I produced.
You look at the manual; it is at least 500 pages long. You can't see yourself wading through that! He might enjoy being a geek, you think to yourself, but that is not your style.
These are the rules! You must read them before starting anything here. Adhering to the rules is an important part of the work of the analysis department - ignore them at your peril!
There is also another book you must start to read - the concepts book - only 600 pages so you had better get started.
