Strategic Department
Introduction
Being a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) sounds difficult - any job title that can be turned into an acronym sounds like a challenge! Having passed your exams, you are now a chief - but what kind of chief?
You are thinking about what lies in store for you in your new role as you make your way to work at the bank. It is raining. This is not the kind of day you were hoping for to start a new position! The day had not started well; because of the nerves, you forget your umbrella and all the taxis are busy, so you have to walk from the train station. You look like a drowned rat when you arrive at the office.
You don't imagine yourself as the typical CFO. You do not have a big, expensive or luxury car. You do not live in a palace with a lot of servants. You have made your way up through the bank and are happily living with your wife and two children, Elisabeth and Andrew, in a flat in a middle-class neighbourhood. Your special treat is a nice cold beer sitting on the veranda of your flat looking out over the city when you get home from work. Life looks a little different when you are able to relax, compared to the stress and pressure of work. Image copyright: Dan Miles, from stock.xchng.
Eventually you arrive at the Biz/ed Investment Bank. You get into the lift and press the button - this time you are heading up to the top floor; your dream is about to be finally realised.
When you step out of the lift you go to the reception desk where you are greeted by the cheerful smile of the receptionist.
Before you get settled in your office, Lady Greenwich would like to have a meeting with you. I see from your suit that it is raining outside! |
