Introduction

Level 2 business and economics activities are designed to be used with a wide range of courses, including GCSE Business courses, Applied Business at GCSE, BTEC First Diploma in Business, GCSE Economics courses and the GCSE Business and Economics (Nuffield) course.

In the first of these two sets of resources, we focused on factors leading to business success. In this resource, we will be looking at the factors that cause businesses to fail.

There are a number of reasons why a business might fail - some are to do with the business itself and some are outside the business's control. We will look in more detail at each of these factors.

We will also look at what happens when a business 'goes bust' - it's not as simple as you might think!
