Break-Even Analysis: Insulin - Making My Arguments Better
Swap your written answer with a neighbour, and use the following list to give your partner's work a level. You should be able to explain why you have given the piece of work that level and how it could be improved.
Stakeholders
| 1 | Only presents view of one stakeholder | The view of Greenpeace on recycling |
| 2 | Presents the views of more than one stakeholder | Compares the views of Shell and Greenpeace on recycling the Brent Spar oil platform |
| 3 | Suggests how the interests of different stakeholders can be brought together | Considers incentives, such as payments from the government and taxation of waste disposal, that would create incentives for an outcome that both parties would consider preferable |
| 4 | Considers the advantages and disadvantages of any one way of getting stakeholders to work for the same outcome | Examines the costs and benefits of alternative policies (e.g. taxation or government grants) that might lead to Shell and Greenpeace preferring the same option |
Now use the following list to give your partner's work another level. Again, you should be able to explain why you have given the piece of work that level and how it could be improved.
More than one reason
| 1 | There is a point of view, but no argument to back it up | I think recycling is good |
| 2 | Gives only one reason to support a point of view | I think recycling is good because it saves money |
| 3 | The argument has more than one reason but the reasons contradict each other (don't add up) | Recycling saves money but businesses don't recycle as they want to make as much profit as possible |
| 4 | The argument has more than one reason but the reasons do not support each other (like a list) | Recycling is good because it saves money and is good for the environment |
| 5 | The different parts of the argument fit together to support the same point (joined up reasons) | Recycling is good because it saves money as less raw materials, etc. are needed and so it is also good for the environment |
Final Task
Discuss each other's comments and then write a final version of your answer.
