Accounting and Finance - Accounting Profession
Anyone examining the Web for accounting-related information will soon come across one of the accounting professional association Web sites. These sites provide an information flow to their members (which non-members usually cannot access) and a wide range of other material that is often accessible to non-members. The latter can provide an insight into the current debates amongst accountants in private practice and in industry.
Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICEAW)
There are a number of professional accounting associations in the UK, all of which now have Web sites. The ICAEW site is highlighted not as the best example of the latest Web site design and delivery of information (that accolade probably belongs to the CIMA site or the ACCA site, see below). However, the ICAEW site is backed up with lots of regularly updated information, ranging from publications lists to student exam details, which is easily explored by use of a site-wide search tool. The site also provides a good balance between public information and information reserved for members of the Institute. It hosts many examples of documents in downloadable formats and the latest professional debates and news items.
