Internet Learning Materials for MBA StudentsFunded by the Foundation for Management Education PrefaceThe Foundation for Management Education, (FME), exists to promote improvements in the quality and relevance of management education within the Higher Education sector. It is supported by the business community and provides modest start-up funding for a range of different projects within the scope of its aims and objectives. This set of Internet learning materials is a good example of the type of project that FME sponsors. We believe that the rapid growth of the Internet, and of the materials available online, offers the opportunity to make higher education more widely available and to enhance the learning experience of us all. We have therefore funded the production and distribution of this set of materials by the Institute for Learning and Research Technology (ILRT) at Bristol University. It is specifically aimed at MBA students and their teachers, but undoubtedly could and we hope will have wider application. We are greatly indebted to all the chapter authors for their time and professional contributions; to Helen Valentine of the University of the West of England for her invaluable contribution to the work of the Advisory Board; and to Catherine Sladen of ILRT for her hard work and skill in successfully managing the project within a demanding timescale. Please make sure that the materials have the widest possible circulation in your institution. Paul Watkinson
The Association of Business Schools (ABS) is pleased to commend this publication as an excellent starting point for identifying appropriate Internet-based learning resources for MBA students. The importance of effective knowledge management in today's business environment cannot be over stated. Jonathan Slack
The Association of MBAs is delighted to be associated with this project. There is little doubt that the Internet has the power to transform traditional MBA teaching and learning, bringing new opportunities to many more students. It is also essential that the leading edge managers of today, never mind tomorrow, understand the use and potential of the new technologies. The various chapters in this guide will help MBA students to realise the importance of Web site technology in business applications.
