Help With Using the Data SectionThe Biz/ed data section has a range of resources and these are set out below. TimeWebOne of the principal resources is TimeWeb. This is a unique integrated package of data and teaching and learning materials to support the teaching of data skills. TimeWeb has two major parts to it:
Key Economic DataThis resource enables students to look at some basic data on key economic variables and analyse the extent of the relationship between them. The aim of the resource is to provide a simple introduction to data analysis but there are plenty of opportunities to make the analysis more complex if students wish. Office for National StatisticsBiz/ed has selected sample datasets that should be of value to economics and business students. These can be looked on screen (as html files) or they can be downloaded in csv format so that they can be put directly into a spreadsheet package for processing. Users who are looking for more extensive data than the sample data we have available may like to go directly to the National Statistics Web site. Penn World DataUse our Biz/ed Penn World Data request form to access online statistics covering 23 key variables on all the major world economies, from 1950 until 2000. There are online user guidelines available and also there is a graphing facility for the data. Free SourcesThere is also an extensive guide to free data sources on the Web written by John Sloman, Director of the Economics Network Use the side tool bar to navigate around the Data section and the Biz/ed logo to return to the homepage. |
