Non-Profit Making OrganisationsFor You To Do 11: Solution
A strange situation because there is more money in the kitty than there should be! The speech:Ladies and gentlemen The cash position as explained to me by the treasurer in his absence is that out of total receipts for the year of £15,830.77, we paid out a total of £16,292.01 and have the grand total of £855.82 on hand. Ladies and gentlemen, you know I'm not a bookkeeper and I'm not a mathematician so forgive me if I'm wrong, but according to the treasurer's figures we've got £385.62 more in the kitty than we should have. I wouldn't care but the treasurer ran away just before he could explain everything - if only he'd run away and there wasn't enough cash in the kitty I'd understand it! Any ideas anyone? The reality is that anyone can make mistakes and it could be that the treasurer has underpaid a bill, or someone has paid too much by mistake. Maybe the treasurer's figures are wrong and he needs to go back to his books and check them. Over the year this is not a significant amount of money and it is not worth worrying about. Moreover, the committee shouldn't organise a party to spend it either! |
