Setting up disco costs spreadsheet

Follow these instructions to set up the disco costs spreadsheet.

Diane and John are organising a disco party at school to raise money for charity. It costs £50 to hire a DJ and disco. Refreshments will be provided at an average cost of 70p per person. They intend to sell tickets for £1.50 each.

(1) The headings in rows 1 and 2 are headings, type them in.

(2) Column A lists possible numbers of tickets sold.

Either fill it in using your spreadsheets 'data-fill' facility.

Or start with 0 in cell A4, put the formula A4 + 10 in cell A5 and copy this formula down the column.

(3) Put the value 50.00 into column C using the copy facility.

(4) Put formulas into the remaining columns so that

  • column B = column A x 1.50
  • column D = column A x 0.70
  • column E = column C + column D
  • column F = column B - column E
