EXPERIMENTING : INTRODUCTION

Hypothetically speaking, this could be the most testing part of TimeWeb! Here we're into the use of tests to evaluate different hypotheses. You'll find materials on significance tests and the null and alternative hypotheses that these attempt to evaluate. One and two tail tests of significance are also covered.

There's help too on the risks that you run when accepting or rejecting hypotheses.

There are four main areas of this section and you can access them at any time using the navigation bar on the left. The four sections are:

  • Explanation - a guide to significance tests and the null hypothesis
  • Illustration - illustrations of various forms of significance testing and Type I and Type II errors
  • Worksheets - worksheets on links between variables
  • Review - a very brief summary of the topics covered in the 'experimenting' section

Why not also practice your understanding and skills by tackling the worksheet activities at the end of the section?
