RELATING : INTRODUCTION

The world from which data are drawn does not contain elements that exist in isolation. Every aspect of life is interlinked and our view of the causes and effects of what we observe is inevitably complex.

What the 'relating' section is about is the extent to which the observations we make from data series can be connected with one another. By looking for connnections between aspects of data, we can discover broader and deeper insights into the way we live.

There are four main areas of this section and you can access them at any time using the navigation bar on the left. The four sections are:

  • Explanation - a guide to correlation and correlation coefficients
  • Illustration - illustrations of correlation coefficients and how they are calculated
  • Worksheets - worksheets on correlation and correlation coefficients
  • Review - a very brief summary of the topics covered in the 'relating' section

Here you'll find help with using the key methods of correlation analysis. Don't forget that there's also a Guide to Excel on TimeWeb. You can access this from the navigation bar on the left from any page.
