Business bankTeacher's Guide - Using the site for AS Business StudiesThe Virtual Bank of Biz/ed business site looks at the ways in which banks and perhaps central banks may impact on the work of businesses. In the Virtual Bank we aim to help with the sort of support that commercial banks may give. This means that we looks at issues like business planning, types of legal business structure, investment and also external influences on a business. The main use for the Virtual Bank in teaching AS Business Studies is likely to be for the external influences sections (AQA module 3, Edexcel module 1 and OCR module 1 (2871)). For these modules it may be worth looking in particular at the external section. This has three separate sub-sections and these focus on economic indicators, the role of the Bank of England in setting interest rates and managing monetary policy in the UK and finally a section on economic policy that looks at the role of fiscal, monetary and supply-side policy in the management of the UK economy. The business planning section should also be of use for AS Business Studies as it has basic summaries on break-even analysis, cash flow forecasting and financial accounts. Students may also find the marketing planning section of use in looking at the marketing mix, market research and other issues. |
