Business bank
Teacher's Guide - Using the site for BTEC Business
The Virtual Bank of Biz/ed business site looks at the ways in which banks and perhaps central banks may impact on the work of businesses. In the Virtual Bank we aim to help with the sort of support that commercial banks may give. This means that we look at issues like business planning, types of legal business structure, investment and also external influences on a business.
This means that the site is most likely to be useful for students as they cover Unit 1 (Introduction to Business), Unit 5 (Business Enterprise) and Unit 7 (Finance, Cash Flow and Insolvency).
For Unit 1, the most useful areas will be break-even and types of business.
For Unit 5, students will need to look at the areas of types of business, sources of finance, marketing planning and financial planning. The planning section includes a case study which draws together these themes and includes a worksheet and interactive quiz.
For Unit 7, students will need to look at sources of finance and cashflow forecasting.
