Introduction

This section is all about the money markets and foreign exchange market. There are two main sections for you to explore:

  • Foreign exchange market - the ability to exchange money into other currencies is a vital requirement for trade to take place. Find out here all about exchange rates including how they are determined and the effects they have on the rest of the economy.
  • Money markets - interest rates in the economy are set by the Monetary Policy Committee of the Bank of England. Find out here how they do that, and why it is necessary.

In each section you'll find a wide variety of materials - explanations, related economic theories, worksheets and often some suggestions for further work.
