Economics bankTeacher's Guide - Using the site for teaching AS EconomicsThe Virtual Bank of Biz/ed economics site focuses very heavily on inflation and monetary policy and so is most likely to be of value in the national economy modules (AQA module 2, Edexcel module 3 and OCR module 3 (2883)). The main section that will be worth looking at for this will be the monetary policy section and in particular the resources in there on inflation. Though some of the material will be in a little too much detail for AS students, they should find most of it accessible and be able to answer a large proportion of the questions on the worksheets. The section on the work of the MPC should also help them to gain a good overview of the work of the MPC, though the theories and worksheets in this section will be beyond the requirements of the AS level. However, the site also has information on Europe and the euro that will be a help for European modules if they are doing those. Even if not covering Europe for an in depth module, it will be important for students to look at the euro section to ensure they understand the implications of the adoption of the euro. |
