Home ItineraryThe natural history of Zambia is an important asset to the country. We have seen that Zambia's copper reserves and its soil fertility make considerable contributions to the country's output. However the use of its flora and fauna also satisfy needs and wants and are thus of an interest to the economist. Unfortunately these use of these resources is leading to the destruction of the species concerned. Market failure is again evident as some of Zambia's precious wildlife resources are being wiped out. Destination 1 Kafue National Park The Wildlife Tour takes you on safari to two of Zambia's national parks. The first Kafue National Park is the largest in Zambia and is less developed as far as its tourist industry that some of the others is concerned but its wildlife is still very much threatened by the poachers guns and traps. South Luangwe National Park is perhaps the most popular wildlife park in the country. It is the third largest destination for tourists after Victoria Falls and Lake Kariba attracted there by the wide variety of wild animals, birds and plants. However certain species of these animals such as the Black Rhino are on the verge of extinction. The foreign demand for rhino horn has resulted in widespread illegal hunting or poaching.
